Abstract: Within the debate on urban time-tables plans and on the interpretation of time features of inhabiting places, a number of project themes emerges, which establish a close connection between time and urban form. In
particular, time continuum citadels, are a means of exploring this connection, because they are knots in networks at different scales, that often entertain a complex relation with the physical context in which they are placed: time continuum citadels are
always active urban nuclei addressed to the needs of temporary inhabitants (airports, shopping malls, petrol stations, great hotel complexex, etc.). The term citadel has a double meaning: a sort of "city inside the city", and the image of a town that
doesn't have relationships with administrative boundaries. In this field we can make two examples: the first one concerns huge suburban shopping malls, which are located along main traffic routes, near exchange knots between different transport networks
